A recent survey by American Promise found that 82% of registered voters view the influence of money in politics as a threat to American democracy, and 77% support a constitutional amendment to allow states and Congress to reasonably limit money in elections. 

Republicans complain about George Soros and Hollywood's million dollar contributions to Democratic Campaigns and Democrats complain about Elan Musk and the Koch Brothers' million dollar contributions to Republican campaigns. COLLECTIVELY WE AGREE that excessive contributions are corrupting our politics.

Our country was founded on the principle of “One Person One Vote". Properly interpreted it means that every citizen gets an equal voice in Congress. A $100,000 political contribution destroys that "Equal Voice" principle and has been used quite effectively in placing The Voice of the People secondary to The Voice of the Contributors. 

An analysis of Congressional voting records and donor lists reveals a direct link between a legislator's vote on an issue and the position of their major contributors on that issue.
 

The People's Party is dedicated to a single, critical objective: restoring fairness to our political system. We believe this can be achieved by significantly limiting campaign contributions to members of Congress. 

Our mission is to unite individuals and organizations nationwide who recognize and agree that the excessive influence of money in politics has led to a Congress that prioritizes corporate interests over the best interests of its citizens. This imbalance has demonstrably weakened the middle class, undermined worker rights, degraded educational standards, and diminished the overall quality of life for all Americans.

The consistent disregard of overwhelming public consensus by Congress, as evidenced by instances where 90% of registered voters support an issue yet see no action—highlights the extent to which elected officials are beholden to their corporate donors. 

 Regardless of your specific policy passions or concerns—whether environmental protection, gun safety, education reform, labor rights, or fiscal responsibility—we all face a common obstacle: the disproportionate influence of corporate campaign contributions. This is the singular factor silencing the voice of the people in Congress. To overcome this, we must unite around a common solution developing a common approach.

We believe that the direction of our nation should be determined by the majority of its citizens, not a privileged few. 

The most effective and immediate way to reclaim our democracy is to remove the corrupting influence of big money from our political system.
